Our wish at The Postmaster’s is to provide guests with a warm and welcome stay. We hope you will enjoy a happy stay in the comfort and superior amenity of a landmark building that reflects and preserves the genuine character our local community.

The iconic Postmaster’s is located in the heart of Derby, Tasmania’s world renowned mountain bike village. The Postmaster’s is central to all the Derby township has to offer. Just a short walk along Main Street to local cafes and pubs, bike hire and shuttle services.

The Postmaster’s has been lovingly refurbished and converted into the perfect base for your MTB trip, touring the North East or for just relaxing in the beautiful mountain countryside. With some of the world’s best mountain trails at your doorstep, you are also within a comfortable drive to the spectacular Bay of Fires, Binalong Bay and the Bridestowe Lavender Farm.

The Postmaster’s offers three unique accommodation spaces to suit families, biking groups and romantic couples.

The original Postmaster’s Lodge has served the local community since the early 1900s and still contains the local Post Office. Providing high quality country comfort ideal for families and groups of six the Lodge can sleep up to eight guests. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, the main lounge and verandah with spectacular mountain river views. Downstairs there is the eat-in kitchen, second TV sitting room with sofa bed and outdoor BBQ area.

Once the regional depot for PMG linesmen The Shed is the area’s new premium holiday location: architecturally striking with a hi-tech and stylish interior and spectacular outlook. Featuring raked ceilings, split level timber floors, large decks and gardens The Shed sleeps up to four guests in two bedrooms with quality linen. The stylish bathroom with heated Spanish tiles and viewing window is a special touch. The open plan living area includes a fully equipped kitchen, genuine leather lounge furnishings, smart TV, Bose sound and air-conditioning.

The Postmaster’s Studio Apartment is located under the Post Office in what was once the mail sorting room for the district. Ideal for couples with all the modern conveniences of a city apartment and the cosy comfort of a mountain village the open plan one bedroom studio styled Apartment is bright and colourful. With a well equipped kitchen, smart TV, leather armchairs, air-conditioning and a sofa bed for extra guests the Studio Apartment features a large queen bedroom and stylish bathroom with heated Spanish floor tiles.
